Join Debra Bacianga for a six week, hands-on introduction to the art of mold making. In this beginner-friendly class, you'll explore the fundamentals of mold making, from press molds to multi-part molds. Deb will guide you through the process of creating and using molds to cast your creations.
This class will cover:
- the fundamentals of mold making and essential tools/materials
- how to create single or multi-part molds using plaster
- how to best select and prepare an original ceramic piece for molding
- slip casting techniques
- de-molding your creations with care
- cleaning, trimming, and surface treatments on your de-molded pieces
No prior experience is necessary – this class welcomes all enthusiastic potters looking to expand their creative horizons. That said, this class is highly focused. If you’re looking for a more social offering, consider a wheel or hand building class! We recommend signing up for this class by 1/3 at the latest, as we encourage you to come to the first class with a positive.We can provide studio access to complete this task if you don’t already have access to a studio.
PLEASE NOTE - of the earth collective is NOT a slip casting studio. We have limited capacity for hobby slipcasters, but our members may not run production within our member studio once completing this class.
