6 WEEKS monday 6 - 9 pm | wheel projects with steph | may 4th - june 8th
this project focused class provides a friendly and creative environment! anyone who can center + pull walls a few inches tall is welcome in this class :) you’ll learn fun new techniques, and work through that 2-5lb hump! this class is taught by steph.
classes are small - 5 or 6 students + one instructor.
come prepared with clothes you don’t mind getting covered in clay!
the session:
week 1- cylinders and vases
you’ll start with with 2lb cylinders and take it from there
we’ll walk you through reclaim, too.
week 2- big bowls
how to set yourself up for big tall bowl vs shallow wide bowl!
we’ll go over trimming, and briefly explore surface design so you can start thinking about how to decorate your pots, too.
week 3- moon jar / throwing things to same size
we’ll learn to throw two bowls with the same width, and then how to attach them together!
there will be more trimming time in this weeks class, too.
week 4- how to alter forms after thrown like a baking dish
we’ll throw shallow wide dishes, add handled, and form into rectangular dishes.
students can continue practicing skills from previous weeks if they don't want to make a baking dish
week 5- trim week
wrap up week! trim, add handles, and begin your surface design.
steph will demo sgraiffto, carving, and mishima
week 6- glaze glaze glaze!
note - bigger pots can take longer to dry, students may need to come back to finish glazing
make up or bonus class will be held on 6/14. access to practice hours continues through 4/25 to allow you time to glaze your work.
class prices include all materials and firing fees and are paid upfront. you may pay a 50% deposit to secure your seat in the class by using code DEPOSIT. payment in full is due 7 days prior to your first class.
