assisted sandcasting session with Rebekah J ~ Thursday July 17, 6-9pm
Join us for casting sessions in the loft with Rebekah J ~ if you’ve taken our wax carving / sand casting 6 week workshop, this is the perfect way to continue your journey with a little support.
This is not an instructional class, but rather an assisted open studio session with a focus on the casting part of the process.
Students must arrive to class with their wax ready based on the guidelines you were taught in class. Wax purchasing links are in the dropdown menu below.
All other tools will be provided. You’ll have time to prep your sand mold and Rebekah will be there to assist you with handling the torch and pouring your metal. Any remaining time may be used to finish/polish your piece with the studio tools. If you need more time beyond that to either prep your wax or finish your metal, consider joining our membership!
Brass casting grain is included in the cost of the session. If you’d like to cast in silver this will incur a $50 fee, please reach out to Carolina at metal@oftheearthcollective.com at least a week prior to place the order.

-
Students MUST bring their wax designs carved and ready to cast. Time may allow for a little finishing but these 3 hour sessions are intended to offer you assistance with the torch & pouring.
Here are some links to purchase wax:
Green (class variety, hardest good for sharp edges and intricate details, but steer clear of too thin)
Purple general-purpose, some flexibility
Blue softer and more flexible
-
metalsmithing is an inherently dangerous craft by the nature of the tools we’re using, but there’s nothing to worry about! studio safety information will be shared at the beginning of class to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience.
to fully participate in the workshop, please anticipate bringing a hair tie if you have long hair, closed-toe shoes and well fitting clothing that you don't mind getting dirty are also recommended. A K95 mask for dust when polishing, and any safety goggles (or prescription/blue light glasses) to protect your eyes from dust.
-
The studio is located at 4800 Airport Way S.
Be careful not to park in the numbered spots in the lot. You may be towed - and not by us! There is street parking across the street and down the road on s alaska street, right past the fedex, which is where we'd recommend parking.
You'll want to enter through door #1, walk through the doors to the left, then up the stairs to the right! Class will be held in our loft. We have a small space, so it's pretty easy to navigate :)
-
all metalsmith class sales are final.
with these offerings being so limited, it’s nearly impossible to accommodate make-ups. please only sign up for a class if you are sure to attend all classes in the session.
we recognize that things come up - please reach out directly to metal@oftheearthcollective.com
