In this 4 week workshop you will explore techniques to create unique botanical imprints on paper and cloth with raw dye-stuffs such as flower blooms, plants and kitchen waste.

Eco prints are made when plant material is placed between layers of paper or cloth then steamed or boiled to transfer the pigment in a unique, lasting plant portraits captured onto paper or cloth.

We’ll also cover ways to further enhance your botanical prints with intuitive mark making for use as cards, mixed media collage or wearable art.

We'll explore together:

  1. Create one of a kind works of botanical art to wear, gift or display

  2. Renew our relationship with the land, seasons, and life cycles of the materials we work with

  3. Discover which leaves and flowers are the best to use for eco-printing and why

  4. Learn about the magic ingredient, alum, which permanently affixes plant color to paper & cloth

  5. Explore how to enhance your eco prints with pen, ink and stitching techniques
